About Brainiac Foods

Founded by Jonathan, Founder and Co-CEO

Brainiac makes snacks for kids and families, including applesauce squeezers, brain-shaped fruit snacks, protein smoothies and organic Little Brainiac toddler pouches. Each line is made with the BrainPack, the brand's blend of omega-3s (DHA, EPA and ALA) and choline. Two dads, Jonathan and Mark, started the brand while looking for better food for their own kids, and developed it with an advisory board of pediatricians, neurologists and nutrition scientists. The company is a certified B Corp.

Good to know

Answered by Brainiac Foods.

  • What is the BrainPack?

It is Brainiac's blend of omega-3s, including DHA, EPA and ALA, plus choline. Amounts vary slightly between product lines depending on the ingredient sources used.

  • Where do the omega-3s and choline come from?

In the yogurts, DHA comes from algae and ALA from flaxseed, both non-GMO and sourced in the USA. The applesauce and toddler pouches use fish oil from North America. The choline is USP Verified and non-GMO.

  • Do the pouches contain any major allergens?

Yes. The omega-3 DHA/EPA in the Little Brainiac squeezies comes from fish.

  • Is the fish oil tested for mercury?

Yes. It is tested regularly and must contain no more than 0.01 ppm of mercury. It comes from wild fish caught as a by-product of the fishmeal or canning industries.

  • Is there added sugar in the applesauce and squeezies?

No. Both rely on the natural sweetness of the fruit.

  • How should the pouches be stored?

Unopened pouches keep at room temperature for up to 12 months and can also be chilled or frozen. Once opened, refrigerate and finish within 24 hours.

  • What colors and sweeteners are in the fruit snacks?

Colors come from fruits, vegetables and botanicals, with no artificial dyes. They are sweetened with cane sugar and formulated to be gluten-free.

  • What age are the Little Brainiac squeezies for?

They are made for children over one year old. The removable cap means they are not suitable for unsupervised children under three.
