About Brightland
Founded by Aishwarya Iyer
Brightland makes extra virgin and flavored olive oils, fruit-forward vinegars and raw honey from California-grown ingredients, produced with family farmers and local makers. The oils come in white UV-coated bottles that keep out light, and the vinegars are double-fermented on a family-run farm on California's Central Coast. The brand was started by founder Aishwarya Iyer and takes its name from a line in the song The Olive Tree.
Good to know
Answered by Brightland.
Where is Brightland olive oil made?
It is made in the USA from California olives.
Is Brightland certified organic?
No. The farm partners follow sustainable practices but are not certified organic because of the cost and difficulty of certification.
How should I store the olive oil?
Keep it away from heat and light, close it after use, and use it within about 60 days of opening.
How long does the olive oil last?
It is best within two years of bottling; the best-by date is printed on the bottle.
Why does the olive oil taste bitter?
Bitterness is a good sign in extra virgin olive oil and reflects olives harvested early in the fall, giving a grassy taste.
What is the smoke point of the extra virgin olive oil?
Third-party lab tests put the 2024 harvest oils at roughly 445°F to 455°F.
Where are the vinegars made, and why is sugar added?
They are made on a family-run farm on California's Central Coast. A little cane sugar balances the sharpness and brings out the fruit.
What makes it a California balsamic?
It is made from zinfandel grapes in stainless steel barrels, without the 12-year aging of traditional Modena balsamic.
