About Kosterina

Founded by Katerina

Kosterina makes extra virgin olive oil from early-harvest Koroneiki olives grown in the Peloponnese region of southern Greece, alongside flavored olive oils, balsamic vinegars from Modena, crushed fruit vinegars, organic snacking olives and olive oil skincare. The oils are single-origin and mono-varietal, packed in opaque glass or tin, and third-party tested each harvest. The brand was started by Katerina, whose family comes from the village of Koroni, and she began sourcing the oil with her husband Kostas in 2016. The name blends their two names and began as their wedding hashtag.

Good to know

Answered by Kosterina.

  • What olives is Kosterina EVOO made from?

Only early-harvest Koroneiki olives from the Peloponnese region of southern Greece, from one crop, one region and one harvest.

  • When is the olive oil harvested?

Early in the season, October to November, while the olives are still unripe. The oil is bottled in the US and available by early spring, and only the current harvest is sold.

  • Is Kosterina EVOO organic?

The Organic Everyday EVOO (blue bottle) is USDA Certified Organic. The Original EVOO (white bottle) and the flavored oils are made with organic farming methods but are not yet fully certified.

  • Are the flavored oils made with extra virgin olive oil?

Yes. They use the Original EVOO as a base, but are labeled olive oil because infused oils no longer meet the official extra virgin standard.

  • What is the smoke point of Kosterina EVOO?

Over 425F, so it works for roasting, grilling, sautéing, baking and frying as well as drizzling.

  • How should I store the olive oil?

Keep it in a cool, dark place away from the stove and sunlight, and do not refrigerate. Use within about 3 months of opening for the best flavor.

  • Are Kosterina products kosher?

They are not currently certified kosher, though extra virgin olive oil is naturally a kosher product.

  • What does Kosterina EVOO taste like?

It has notes of green tomato, artichoke and banana, with a peppery finish.
