About Pistakio
Founded by Nico and Fran, Co-founders
Pistakio makes sweet pistachio spreads, smooth or crunchy with crushed roasted pistachios and crispy quinoa puffs, using regeneratively farmed pistachios from California's Central Valley. The spreads skip artificial colors and flavors, which is why they look golden rather than bright green. They are made in small batches in Portland, Oregon. Co-founders Nico and Fran started the brand in their college dorm after moving from Italy and missing pistachio products that tasted like real pistachios.
Good to know
Answered by Pistakio.
What sets Pistakio's spread apart?
It uses a lot of premium pistachios and no fillers, so it tastes like the nut. It works in lattes, on ice cream, with cheese or as a marinade.
Where is the spread made and where do the pistachios come from?
It is made by hand in small batches in Portland, OR, with regeneratively farmed pistachios from Central Valley, California.
How long does it keep, and should it be refrigerated?
Unopened jars last about a year; eat within 6 months of opening. Keep it in the pantry for a runnier texture or the fridge for a thicker one.
Why isn't the spread bright green?
Pistachios aren't naturally that color. Many products use dyes, but Pistakio adds no artificial colors.
Does it contain additives or preservatives?
No. It uses five simple ingredients, with no fillers, thickeners, artificial sweeteners, colors or preservatives.
Is it certified non-GMO?
Not yet. Ingredients come from non-GMO farms, and the brand hopes to get official certification in the future.
Is it vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free?
The spread is naturally gluten-free, vegan and dairy-free.
Are the jars recyclable?
Yes. Rinse them and put them in your regular recycling.
