About Soom Foods
Founded by Amy, Co-founder and CEO
Soom Foods makes tahini from roasted, hulled Ethiopian White Humera sesame seeds, ground for a smooth, pourable texture that is easy to stir. The range includes premium and organic jars, shake-and-squeeze bottles in Everyday, Harissa and Mediterranean Herb, and chocolate sesame spreads. Co-founder and CEO Amy made the brand's first delivery to Chef Mike Solomonov's restaurant Zahav in 2013, and Soom remains the tahini used in his kitchens.
Good to know
Answered by Soom Foods.
Where do the sesame seeds come from?
Soom sources its sesame seeds from Ethiopia.
Where are Soom products made?
In Israel, at a facility within the Green Line.
Is Soom tahini raw?
No. It is made from dry roasted, mechanically hulled sesame seeds, with no added oil.
How should I store Soom tahini?
Keep it in a cool, dry pantry for a pourable texture, or in the fridge for a thicker, nut butter-like consistency. Always use a clean, dry spoon.
How long does it keep?
Soom tahini has a two-year best by date from pressing. For best flavor, enjoy it within six months of purchase.
Do Soom products contain nuts, dairy or animal products?
No. There are no tree nuts, peanuts, dairy or animal products in the ingredients, and the facilities do not process tree nuts or peanuts.
Are Soom products kosher?
Yes. Jarred tahini is OU Kitniyot and all squeeze bottles are OU.
How is Everyday Tahini different from Premium Tahini?
The seeds for Everyday Tahini are washed in a salt bath, giving a slightly salty taste, and it is ground finer so it squeezes easily.
